Picking among the best backlink outreach tools in 2026 comes down to how much of the work you want to keep. BuzzStream is a CRM you drive yourself. Pitchbox is built for agencies. Respona now sells placed links rather than seats. Agents like BacklinkBot handle the lookup and sending steps for you. If you're searching for Respona alternatives, first check that you still want what Respona sells today.
| If you want... | Start with | Why |
|---|---|---|
| An agent that finds pages, pitches and verifies the link | BacklinkBot (our product) | Ranking pages in, verified dofollow links out, you approve each send |
| A shared outreach CRM for a small team | BuzzStream | Contact history across campaigns, from $49/month |
| An outreach platform built for agency volume | Pitchbox | AI personalization and many campaigns at once |
How we evaluated: We did not run trial accounts of these tools, so there are no test results, reply rates or screenshots of ours here. On 2026-10-13 we loaded each vendor's homepage and pricing page, read their docs, and read recent threads in r/linkbuilding, r/SEO and r/bigseo. Prices are what each vendor showed that day. BacklinkBot is our product and is judged on the same five points.
What changed in backlink outreach tools this year
We checked both vendors' own sites on October 13, 2026. A reader comparing these brands should know two things:
- Respona's site now describes managed placements. Its homepage says it finds publishers, writes the content and handles outreach and publishing, and its pricing page lists prices per placement. Many comparison articles still describe it as self-serve outreach software.
- Postaga's site did not load. Neither postaga.com nor app.postaga.com was reachable when we checked, and the marketing domain showed a hosting "site not configured" page. We could not confirm current plans or pricing.
The 5 backlink outreach tools, reviewed
1. BacklinkBot (our product)
BacklinkBot is an SEO agent for link building. It reads your site, pulls the pages already ranking for your keywords, scores each one with the reasons shown, finds and verifies the person behind the page, drafts a pitch about that specific page, sends from your own inbox, follows up twice and then stops, and checks that the link is live and dofollow, with a weekly re-check. By default you approve every send.
Pro costs $99/month (4,000 credits, three warmed inboxes) and Growth costs $199/month (10,000 credits). There is no free plan and no trial.
It's built for founders and small teams who would rather approve pitches than build prospect lists.
Its main limitation is that it's a newer product without a long published record of won links. It's email only, it doesn't write content or do technical SEO, and it needs something link-worthy on your site.
Pick it if your bottleneck is prospecting, not sending.
2. BuzzStream
It's an outreach CRM with contact discovery, templates, open, click and reply tracking, link monitoring and a Chrome extension. Bulk send, scheduling and automated follow-ups come with Growth and up.
Starter is $49/month (1 user, 500 contacts, 30 prospecting searches), Growth is $174/month (3 users, 25,000 contacts), Professional is $424/month (6 users, API access), and Custom starts at $999/month, per buzzstream.com/plans-pricing. There's a free trial, and paying 12 months upfront gets you one month free.
It fits teams who run outreach by hand and want one record of every conversation.
Starter has no bulk send or automated follow-ups, so most teams end up on Growth.
This is the relationship tool. In r/linkbuilding, one practitioner who argued that relationships beat "spray and pray" still named it as their pick: "If you really want a tool recommendation, I'd suggest BuzzStream" (u/nic2x).
3. Pitchbox
Its homepage calls it "The AI Outreach Platform for link building and AEO," with AI personalization across thousands of prospects and an AI Reply Agent.
Pro is $300/month billed monthly on a one-year term, or $210/month billed annually (2 users, 2 email accounts, 2,000 outreach emails). Advanced is $600 or $420, Scale is $1,200 or $825, and Enterprise is on request, per pitchbox.com/pricing. Free trials are arranged through a demo.
It's aimed at agencies running dozens of campaigns.
It has the highest entry price here, and even the monthly rate comes with a one-year term.
It's built for scale. Some agencies outgrow it the other way, though. One in r/linkbuilding said "We developed our own custom solution, but Pitchbox used to be our go to" (u/GodOfSEO).
4. Respona
On 2026-10-13 its homepage described done-for-you link placements: Respona finds publishers, writes the content, handles outreach and publishing, and you track placements in a dashboard.
You pay per placement: Starter $100 (DR 20+), Standard $160 (DR 30+), Authority $240 (DR 40+), Power $400 (DR 50+), Elite $500 (DR 60+). Standard turnaround is 28 days, and volume discounts start at $3,000/month, per respona.com/pricing.
It suits teams who want placements delivered and don't need to own the outreach.
Since you don't run the outreach yourself, the editor relationships don't stay with you, and every link has a price.
Compare it with link building services, not outreach software.
5. Postaga
Many roundups have listed Postaga as an outreach tool with prospecting and sequences.
Check current pricing yourself. We could not load postaga.com or app.postaga.com on 2026-10-13.
It suits existing users who can still log in.
We could not confirm the product is still being sold.
Confirm the site and billing work before you sign up.

Two newer agents do the same job: BacklinkGPT (from $149/month, email and LinkedIn) and ElvixAI ($99/month after a $19 two-week trial). Both are covered in our list of AI link building tools.
The case against buying an outreach tool
The strongest case against this whole category came from a link builder in r/linkbuilding. Someone asked how competitors win links without cold pitches, and they answered: "Of about eleven hundred links I built in about eight months, about two-thirds were exchanges and one-third were paid." On software, their verdict was: "A sending tool won’t help with any of that. It just sends the emails faster." (u/Ivan_trefilov). That is one person's mix, not an industry figure, but the pattern is real. Another reply in the same thread warned that generic blasting "is just burning your domain reputation at scale" (u/TurbulentStiffness).
We agree that a faster sender won't fix a weak ask, and that a lot of links today involve a trade or a fee. The argument stops short at the work that happens before the email. Finding pages that rank, the right person to contact and a reason they would care takes just as long for exchanges and paid deals. If you go the exchange route, the same commenter's advice holds. Keep the numbers modest, because Google's spam policies call out excessive link exchanges.

FAQ
What are the best Respona alternatives?
It depends on what you want from Respona. If you want to run outreach yourself, BuzzStream (from $49/month) and Pitchbox (from $210/month billed annually) are the established options. If you want an agent to find and pitch pages, look at BacklinkBot, BacklinkGPT or ElvixAI. If you want placed links, compare per-link services.
Is BuzzStream or Pitchbox better for a small team?
For a small team BuzzStream is usually the better fit, because it starts at $49/month and works as a shared CRM. Pitchbox is aimed at agencies. It costs more to start and its features are built for running many campaigns at once.
Is Postaga still available?
We could not tell. On 2026-10-13 neither postaga.com nor app.postaga.com would load, and the main domain showed a hosting error page. If you are an existing customer, contact the company directly before you renew.
Can I use a cold email tool like Instantly for link outreach?
You can, but general cold email tools are built for volume. Link outreach works better at low volume, with a pitch written about each specific page. Blasting from one domain also puts your sender reputation at risk.
How many outreach emails should I send per day?
Fewer than most tools allow. Start with a small daily number from a warmed inbox, write each email about the target page, and only increase it if replies hold up. How well each page fits matters more than how many you send.
Approve pitches instead of building lists
If finding the right pages and the people behind them is what slows your outreach, BacklinkBot's SEO agent handles that part. It pulls the pages already ranking for your keywords, finds the person behind each one, drafts a pitch about their page and sends it from your inbox once you approve. It follows up twice, then checks every week that the link is still live. Pro is $99/month.
Want these links without the spreadsheet?
For $99 a month, the agent finds and pitches the pages already ranking for your keywords. Or we submit you to 100+ directories by hand, from $99 once. Either way, you approve everything.
