Authority
How trustworthy and important a website is considered by search engines. Websites with high authority are seen as experts in their field and rank better in search results.
Website authority is like a reputation score that shows how much a site can be trusted for accurate, quality information. Search engines determine authority by looking at factors like how long the site has existed, who links to it, and whether it provides helpful content. Higher authority sites typically rank better in search results. Authority can be measured at both the domain level (your entire website) and the page level (individual pages). Tools like Moz's Domain Authority or Ahrefs' Domain Rating provide scores from 1-100 that estimate how well a site might rank. Remember, these are third-party metrics, not official scores from search engines themselves. Building authority takes time and consistent effort. You can increase your site's authority by creating valuable content that others want to link to, getting mentions from respected websites in your industry, and maintaining a good user experience. There are no shortcuts to earning true authority – it comes from becoming a genuine resource in your field.
