The short version
- The best directory submission services and tools of 2026 compared on price, manual vs automated, and proof, with every price checked on October 13, 2026.
On this page
The best directory submission services in 2026 cost between $29 and $299 one-time. They come in three types: manual done-for-you services (BacklinkBot, StartupSubmit, Launch Directories), automated submitters (SubmitSaaS, Submitator, ListingBott) and DIY tools that fill in forms while you click (AutoSubmit.to). Manual is slower and costs a little more. Automated is fast and cheap, but more of its listings tend to get rejected.
| Best for | Pick | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Hand submission with a full report | BacklinkBot done-for-you (ours) | 100+ directories by hand, $99 one-time, submission report |
| The lowest price | Submitator | $29 for 30 directories, $79 for 100, browser automation |
| Doing it yourself, faster | AutoSubmit.to | Chrome extension that fills the forms, from $5/month |
We sell one of these services, so ours is listed first and labelled. We judged it on the same five things as the rest: what it does, price, who it's for, one real limitation and a verdict.
How we evaluated. We have not bought these services or run paid trials, so nothing below is a test result. On October 13, 2026 we reviewed each provider's public site and pricing page, what they say about manual versus automated submission and reporting, and recent founder threads on Reddit. Prices are what each provider's own page showed that day. Where a page was inconsistent or would not load, we say so.
Directory submission service or DIY: decide this first
Before comparing services, decide whether you need one. Doing it yourself is free and it works. What you pay for is mostly your time back.
Do it yourself if you only want the top 15 to 20 directories, you have a free weekend, and you want to write each description by hand. A founder in r/SideProject, u/Ambitious-Age-5676, put it this way: "What actually worked was finding maybe 15-20 directories that are legit curated (Product Hunt, SaaSHub, AlternativeTo, stuff like that) and doing proper submissions with good descriptions. Took me a weekend." Our free database of 1,287 directories lists DR, link type and price for each, so you can pick your own 20.
If you want 100+ listings, pay for a service. Each form takes 10 to 20 minutes, so 100 directories adds up to a working week. Most DIY attempts stall at that point.
If you want to do it yourself but hate the typing, use a directory submission tool. AutoSubmit.to, for example, fills each form from one profile, and you still review each one and click submit.
Manual vs automated: why it matters
The fastest services usually automate the form-filling. That makes them cheaper, and it is also why their approval rates differ. In r/SideProject, u/startupsubmit (who runs a manual submission service, so read it as a vendor view) wrote that "'500+ directories, done in 48 hours!' is almost always bots" and that moderators flag generic form-fills. Their advice holds whoever you hire: "make them send you the live URL and a screenshot for every single listing."
Google's spam policies name "low-quality directory or bookmark site links" as link spam, and separately list "using automated programs or services to create links to your site." Neither rule bans directory listings. Read together, they point the same way: a small set of real, curated directories is safer than a large automated blast.
The 8 best directory submission services and tools
1. BacklinkBot done-for-you directory submission (ours)
Our team submits your product by hand to 100+, 200+ or 300+ directories chosen from our database of 1,287, and sends you a submission report.
Pricing is one-time: $99 for 100+ directories, $167 for 200+, $357 for 300+. See the service.
It's built for new SaaS and startup sites, roughly DR 0 to 20, that need their first referring domains.
The limitation is that these are foundational links, not editorial ones. Directories approve on their own schedule, and a listing will not replace outreach to sites in your niche.
Of the hand-submitted options, this one has the largest directory pool behind it. Our service page says most submissions are done in 5 to 7 business days.
2. StartupSubmit
They do manual directory submission for startups, SaaS and AI tools, with screenshot proof for every listing, per their site.
Starter is $99 for 60+ directories and Growth is $199 for 150+, both one-time. A third tier showed the same $199 on the day we checked, so confirm current pricing.
It suits founders who want manual submission and proof screenshots.
Their own FAQ says directories usually take 1 to 4 weeks to approve, so results lag the delivery date.
It's a credible manual option. The founder is active in Reddit threads on the topic and the advice there is useful, but those posts are promotion.
3. launch directories
Manual submission to up to 100+ directories, plus a free DIY directory database showing DR, traffic and link type.
Starter List is $99 (30+ directories), Pro List $149 (60+) and Premium List $199 (100+), each shown beside a higher crossed-out price (pricing page).
It's for founders who want a manual service and a list to work from themselves.
The 4 to 6 day delivery is a site-wide average, not a promise per package.
At 100 directories it's comparable to StartupSubmit, at a higher price than ours.
4. SubmitSaaS
They describe it as "smart automation combined with human review," and deliver a Google Sheet report with verification screenshots.
Basic is $60 (60+ submissions), Standard $100 (100+), Premium $140 (140+), all one-time with a 48-hour turnaround (homepage).
It's for founders who want results in two days.
Paid directories aren't included on the lower tiers, and the "up to DR 15/20" outcome on each tier is a vendor claim about a third-party metric.
Fast and cheap, with automation doing most of the work.
5. MarketingDB
The pitch: "Our team submits your product across the top marketing directories."
Starter $111 (30+ directories), Pro $159 (60+), Premium $229 (100+) (homepage). The page doesn't say whether that's one-time or recurring.
It's aimed at marketing-tool founders.
The page promises no report and no turnaround, so ask about reporting before you buy.
6. ListingBott
AI-assisted research with listings submitted to 100 sites, plus a monthly plan.
The main 100-directory package is $299 (shown down from $499), or $99 a month for 20 directories (homepage).
It fits founders comfortable with a longer timeline.
The page quotes "up to 5 weeks" for delivery, and it describes the process two different ways (humans submit, and "we launch our bot").
It's the priciest per directory here, so read the current package terms closely.
7. Submitator
Submission by "custom browser automation" to directories you pick in a dashboard, with links and screenshots for each submission.
Starter $29 (30 directories), Growth $49 (60), Scale $79 (100), All directories $149, all one-time, delivered in 24 to 48 hours (homepage).
It's for founders on a tight budget who want speed.
It is openly automated, which is the approach manual services argue gets more rejections.
Still, it's the cheapest way to 100 submissions on this list.
8. AutoSubmit.to
This is a directory submission tool, not a service: a Chrome extension that fills forms from one launch profile across 235+ directories, with a status tracker.
It starts at $5/month for one site, or $25/month for 25 sites (homepage).
It's for founders who want to submit themselves without retyping everything.
You still open each directory and do the work, so it saves typing, not time spent.
It's the best DIY middle ground.
Two names didn't make the list. GetMoreBacklinks shows packages at $379 to $779 but marked every one "Currently unavailable" on October 13, 2026. FrogDR tracks Domain Rating and does not submit anywhere.

The honest case against all of them
Some practitioners think the whole category is oversold. "Yeah that market is mostly a scam right now," wrote u/Jolly_Assistant_2618 under an r/indiehackers post about 220+ manual submissions. In the same thread u/gorancandrlicfm, who says they have done SEO "like for forever," argued: "Submit to 20 decent ones + topical ones if possible... One topical site with DA 30+ is worth all those other 70 dirs."
On value per link, that's mostly right. One relevant link from a niche site beats dozens of generic listings. The argument breaks down at the cold start, though. A brand-new domain has no referring domains at all, and the original poster in that thread reported that with only 15 directories "i saw no DR improvements but when we submit to 220+ Directories we noticed Domain rating increase 30+" (a vendor's own claim, about their clients). So the reasonable middle ground is to submit to the 20 curated directories yourself and pay for volume only if you want the broader foundation. Directory links never replace editorial ones.
How to pick a directory submission service
- Ask whether submissions are manual or automated, then decide which trade-off you want.
- Require proof for every listing: a live URL and a screenshot, not a count.
- Check what is excluded: paid directories, niche directories, and whether you get to pick the list.
- Know your starting point. Check your DR with our free DR checker. Under about DR 20, directories are a sensible first step; above that, outreach usually moves more.
- Write good descriptions anyway. Our guide to writing a directory listing description covers what gets approved.

FAQ
What is a directory submission service?
A directory submission service lists your website or product on online directories for you, usually for a one-time fee. The good ones submit to curated, relevant directories, write a description for each one and send proof of every listing.
How much does a directory submission service cost?
On October 13, 2026, one-time prices ranged from $29 (Submitator, 30 directories) to $299 (ListingBott, 100). Manual services clustered around $99 to $199 for 60 to 100+ directories. BacklinkBot charges $99 for 100+, $167 for 200+ and $357 for 300+.
Are directory submission services worth it?
They're worth it if you need a base of referring domains and don't have the 20+ hours to do the submissions yourself. They aren't worth it if you expect directories alone to get you rankings. Treat them as foundational links.
Is manual directory submission better than automated?
Manual takes longer, but each submission is written for that specific directory, and practitioners report those get approved more often. Automated is faster and cheaper. Whichever you pick, insist on a live URL and a screenshot for every listing.
What's the difference between a directory submission tool and a service?
A service does the submissions for you. A tool, like a form-filling extension or a directory database, helps you do them yourself faster. Tools cost less, and services save more time.
How long until directory listings go live?
Directories approve on their own schedules. Expect listings to trickle in over one to four weeks after submission, so judge the results after a month, not after five days.
If you'd rather not spend a week on forms, BacklinkBot's done-for-you directory submission puts your product on 100+ directories by hand for $99 one-time and sends a report of every listing.
Want these links without the spreadsheet?
For $99 a month, the agent finds and pitches the pages already ranking for your keywords. Or we submit you to 100+ directories by hand, from $99 once. Either way, you approve everything.
