Featured Snippet
A selected search result that appears in a box at the top of Google search results. It briefly answers the searcher's question and is sometimes called "position zero" because it appears above the regular results.
Featured snippets are highlighted boxes of information that appear at the top of many Google search results. They aim to quickly answer a searcher's question without requiring them to click through to a website. These prominent positions are valuable because they appear above the traditional first position, capture user attention, and establish your content as authoritative. Common types of featured snippets include: • Paragraph snippets: Brief text explanations that directly answer a question • List snippets: Numbered or bulleted lists showing steps, items, or ranked information • Table snippets: Organized data presented in rows and columns • Video snippets: YouTube videos that specifically address the search query To optimize for featured snippets, identify question-based searches relevant to your industry and create content that concisely answers these questions. Structure your content logically with clear headings and organize information in a format that matches the likely snippet type (paragraphs for definitions, lists for processes, tables for comparisons). Include the question in a heading and provide a clear, direct answer in the first paragraph below it. Use simple language, aim for answers between 40-60 words, and supplement with helpful images where appropriate.
